Original US Army EE-8 Field Telephone
SKU: FPHN-5Original U.S. EE-8 field phone with original OD canvas carry case
The EE-8 field telephone was used by the US Military from 1935 into the Vietnam War. It used a wired line with a maximum transmission distance of 7 miles. The EE-8 uses D cell batteries to power the electric signal that carries the signal through the wire to the other phone. It has a hand-cranked dynamo to generate the charge that rings the phone on the other end of the line.
These are surplus items and show variation in condition! Many of the cases have unit numbers, ID or other markings painted on the canvas case. We do not test the function and cannot guarantee any level of operation.
The phones take 2 x D batteries, and with some tinkering it is likely that they are operational (an additional connection wire would be needed if you wanted to pair two sets together). These are issued surplus and although they are all in a good condition, we do not have the opportunity to test them all so we can't confirm that they're immediately operational.
These iconic field telephone are great for the avid collector, movie productions, props for theatre and fancy dress or display at home.
Please note: These are original military surplus items therefore there may be some colour, quality and style variation to the image shown. Items are picked at random and no two items are exactly the same.
